Paintings at City Hall

A selection of seven paintings at City Hall on view until September 21.

Summer Pond and Lost Weekend in Scott Wiener’s office in City Hall.

Most days when I arrive at the studio I like to meditate before I start a painting session.  This helps me clear my mind so I can focus on the paintings at hand.  One spring day after a successful meditation I came out of my studio and was immediately introduced to Shannon T. by Valerie Scott a fellow painter at SOMA Artists Studios.  Shannon was looking at Valerie’s work for an upcoming show and looking for new artists to show their work at City Hall.  I invited Shannon into my studio but because I had just emptied my mind in meditation I had no words to talk about my art.  It was a very weird and somewhat embarrassing situation. I had never experienced anything like it.  He looked around made some comments about my work and took my business card. I really thought I would never hear from him.  Several months later he emailed and mentioned that my meditation experience stuck in his mind and he wanted to invite me to show my work at City Hall.   I was thankful he liked my work and felt it was a perfect fit for Scott Wiener’s office and didn’t hold my weird behavior against me!  I hope my paintings add a peaceful element to this office environment and makes everyone’s day a little bit better.
