I’m excited for my next artist residency at VCCA.

November 18 - December 1

”Since 1971, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) has provided uninterrupted time and space for artists to produce the finest works of literature, visual art, and music. VCCA hosts over 400 Fellows each year at two locations: Mt. San Angelo in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Amherst, Virginia, and the Moulin à Nef, in Auvillar France.”

Joy

National Juried Exhibition at Arc Gallery
Jurors: Priscilla Otani and Karen M. Gutfreund

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 16, 7-9pm

”This exhibition shares a diversity of euphoric experiences and the effects of positive emotion on the body. Joy brings catharsis, builds resilience and brings people together. This deliberate turning to joy is not a shying away from the reality of sadness, pain and distress—instead, it is about drawing on a deep sense of joy at the known and unknown, linking thankfulness and hope. Reclaim the joy of artmaking by tapping into one’s inner child. Display moments of contentment you’ve experienced or witnessed. We asked artists to answer the question—what does happiness means to you in the here and now, and to provide a window into a personal source of peace and pleasure. “

Haven: Place of Comfort & Contemplation

August 15 – September 22, 2024

Opening reception: August 17, 2-4pm

In today’s fast-paced, often chaotic world, we find ourselves longing for spaces where we can feel comfort, engage in thoughtful contemplation, and experience a sense of security. Sanctuaries come in many forms, whether they be physical places, metaphysical states of mind, or places of human connection.

In this show, artists are exhibiting their version of Haven, beckoning viewers into these sanctuaries, and revealing the profound impact of these spaces through various mediums and techniques.
